I am a junior in high school and I am 13 years old.
I actually quite like school and enjoy the fun that comes with learning.
But strangely enough, as soon as I get to school, those negative emotions - like shortness of breath, shortness of air, anxiety, depression, and even occasional self-harming tendencies and feelings of low self-esteem - come out of nowhere, and they've been like that since March of this year.
But as soon as I got home, all the symptoms disappeared completely.
It's summer vacation and I'm not in any discomfort, but I'm worried that the problem will return next year when school starts.
Should I consult a psychiatrist?
A warm hug to you first.

As a second year student, it can be really confusing to feel anxious and depressed on campus when you love school and learning. Why don't you think back, did anything impressive happen at school around March? For example, did you become more stressed about your studies or had problems getting along with your classmates or teachers? How did you feel about these situations? Did you try anything to relieve it? Were teachers and parents aware of the situation? How did they react?
How has school been going for you since March? Are you still going to school consistently? Have grades suffered?
Regarding parents, do they know about this? What is their attitude towards the phenomenon of you being unwell at school and being fine at home? Have you discussed this topic?
As information is limited, it is advisable to start by contacting your school's counseling teacher, who can often provide support. During the holidays, there are also youth counseling hotlines around the country that you can try, or just make an appointment to talk to a professional counselor.
I am a sometimes Buddhist occasionally positive counselor, remember the world and I care about you.
