Why I Hate Being a Girl and Longing for Male Power

I'm 19 years old.

I feel that due to hormonal and genetic differences, women tend to be weaker and more powerless than men. I especially dislike my short stature and skinny limbs, which make me feel insecure, and I genuinely want to have strength like the boys.

My parents always wanted me to be gentle, compassionate, and articulate as a girl, but I'm usually dull, restrained, and blunt, and don't act much like a girl in the traditional sense.

How do I adjust my mind?

Hello, owner! I'm Day Hyatt Tan from Whale Social Work.

Reading your sharing, I can feel that you are troubled and confused because of the inconsistency of your gender and personality. Your character is inclined to be dull, restrained and straightforward, which is a bit different from your family's or society's expectation for women to be gentle, sensual and talkative, which makes you internally conflicted and even a bit frustrated, I guess. On the other hand, as a girl, you feel insecure because you are short and physically less strong than boys, and you may even envy the strong physique of men and blame yourself for not having it.

I know exactly how you feel as I have had similar struggles. But it didn't stop me from growing into a compassionate and gentle woman, and my personality didn't change drastically because of it. Women can have both a soft, emotional side and need a strong, rational heart! This way we can be more independent, better adapt to society and accept ourselves more.

You can first try to accept your petite body, it is small, but can be salt and sweet, can be both gentle and strong, soft with strength. If the body makes you insecure, you may want to strengthen the exercise, learn some self-defense or Taekwondo, not only can be strong and healthy, but also to enhance self-confidence, to give yourself a full sense of security.

In addition, try to redefine the image of women: women do not have to be synonymous with weakness and meekness. We can be gentle and caring when our family is in need, and we can be courageous in the face of injustice. We can be a combination of sensibility and rationality, softness and strength! No need to cater to the outside world, find your own most comfortable state, is the best you.

Best wishes (whale social worker ?)
