Is recording a good idea when you can't remember the content during counseling?

I've been attending psychoanalytically oriented video counseling lately, but I find that I can't always remember everything about the counseling, so I'd like to record the conversations via audio recordings so that I can easily review them afterwards.

However, I'm not sure if this will affect the effectiveness of the counseling?

Hi, building owner! I'm Whale Social Worker Koboku.

First of all, I'll give you a warm hug and understand very well how you feel. I know from your description that you were recently in counseling and were worried that you wouldn't be able to remember everything, so you wanted to record it on video.

The effectiveness of audio or video recording actually varies from person to person. For example, it can help you look back on your emotional state and mutual interactions afterward, promoting self-reflection and growth. But on the other hand, videotaping may also distract you during counseling and make you feel less focused since it's recorded anyway.

So, it is best to decide based on your personal situation. In the meantime, it is recommended that you tell your counselor about this idea, as they know you best and may give advice that is more appropriate.

Good luck! (Whale social worker ?)
